One of my favorite things about scuba diving is that there is always a new gadget or accessory out on the market to try. Some of them are a great addition to every divers’ standard kit, whilst others just give you extra kudos. The excitement is palpable every time I walk into a dive center to survey the myriad of clips, straps, and accessories hanging up. Trying to find somewhere to fit everything onto my BCD is challenging, which is why I like a BCD with lots of metal D-rings. Don’t forget to be as streamlined as possible though: I’ll always remember the sight of a buddy who hadn’t checked if his accessories were negatively or positively buoyant – he looked like a Christmas tree with a thousand baubles floating up around him! Teen scuba diver rescued by mate near Geelong

A TEENAGER has saved his mate’s life after they struck trouble while scuba diving near Geelong. 

The 16-year-olds were diving off the coast of Portarlington when one of them had issues with his breathing regulator.
