Andaman Islands – Volcano diving and more

The Andaman Islands are a perfect destination for those who want to spice their diving with the spirit of adventure.

The archipelago of Andaman Islands has 325 islands covering an area of over 6 400 square kilometers. The Vir Savarkar Airport, which is located in Port Blair, is the main gateway for travellers visiting the islands.

If you wish to dive right in, there are good dive sites near Port Blair, Chidiya Tapu and Wandoor. A truly unique experience is however waiting at Barren Island which is one of the most easterly of the Andaman Islands.

Barren Island is known as the home of the only confirmed active volcano in South Asia. Now a tour promoter has announced plans to organize live-aboard trips for those wishing to snorkel or scuba dive at the volcano.
